So slow progress...

Well, lets just say that life has come between me and my work. But I have made some progress on my new shiny Infinity models, and this week I both got some 20mm americans for Bolt Action and also a little X-mas gift from Eng over at kampgruppe-engel.blogspot.com more on that later. :)

Porsche Tiger

Early this summer I got this model kit from my little brother of a Porsche Tiger in 1/35 and a few infantry soldiers, which he had gave up on quite early. I happily took it and secretly built it to give back to him at his birthday in late summer. I hope he is as happy as I am with the result!

Infinity

A few years ago I got some demo minis for Infinity, but they never got played and drowned in a zillion other projects, to finally end up being sold.
Now I somehow re-discovered this game, and a little trading, buying and haggling later I here present the first of three armies (if a group of 10-15 men is an army). These are the Nomads. And hopefully I get the big shiny rulebook tomorrow and get some painting done too!

Liebster award!

I have seen this award pop up here and there the last few days, but I never thought of getting one myself!
Thanks to Leif Eriksson over at figurfanatikern who nominated me, it's always nice to get this kind of feedback. : )

Having been awarded "the Liebster", I have to do the following:

- Copy and paste the award on your blog linking it to the blogger who has given it to you.

- Pass the award to your top 5 favourite blogs with less than 200 followers by leaving a comment on one of their posts to notify them that they have won the award and listing them on your own blog.
- Sit back and bask in that warm fuzzy feeling that comes with knowing that you have just made someone's day!

- There is no obligation to pass this on to anyone else but it is nice if you do.

So, now to the hard part, which ones should get this? Some of my thoughts already have gotten the award, Plastic Warriors, Tiny Solitary Soldiers for example, congrats to you!

First of all I'd like to award my fellow project hoarder Eng at kampgruppe-engel, he does a bit of everything and is a real inspiration both in idéas and painting skill.

I also like to give the award to Mr. Mcharty at Land War in Asia, a blogger who has some really nice AAR's and other things that make his blog a great one!

Another on my list is Ben from Bens Soldiers, a nice guy who mainly stays in 20mm's modern, but lately has tried the mystical scale of 6mm, as well as some historical stuff. A nice blog to follow as he always has some new pictures to show!

We also have ScanableGoose from Tiny Metal Men, the guy responsible for luring me into this 6mm thing.. Always some new pictures from one of his projects!

Congrats to you guys!

German Infantry wip

After reading through the "bolt action" rules I felt I had to paint some more infantry to test the rules with, and since I have only painted 1/3 of my "plastic soldier company" models it was easy to get moving!

A plan to paint a plane

I actually managed to splash some paint to the bird, but I learned the hard way the importance of a good mixing. I bought a bottle of Humbrols water based paint, which would work with airbrush, but it was too thick and was a bit so-so to spray on. I will continue this week and hopefully get a better idea of how to make the most of my airbrush.

Cockpit

Much work and slow progress, but I finished the cockpit yesterday, and next step is to mask it and start airbrushing! Hopefully something will be done this weekend.

Harrier starting up!

While I did the final touches on the bradley I started gluing together this flying machine, and now I have some minor details left before painting. I guess my airbrush will come to use again.. :)
It is Airfix 1/48 BAe Sea Harrier FRS.1, and my first aircraft since I was a kid. It will be fun to see what I can do with this thing.
I have always liked the Harrier, and at this scale it really look like the beast it is!

Bradley diorama finished!

Here it is, my second attempt at a vehicle in 1/35 scale, and I tell you, it won't be the last...
I also had a chance to try out airbrushing at a larger scale, something I have been wanting for some time, and I think the result is great, the shading comes more naturally and the highlights really get something to play against. Another good thing with larger scale is that the camera recognizes the models faces and takes a wee bit better pictures.
Nuff said, enjoy the diorama, and click the images to get a better view!

The idéa behind this scene is that a lone Bradley making it's way through the desert is having some engine trouble, the transported fireteam keep an eye on the horizon and the driver goes out to have a look, and explains to the team leader that "this might take a while".

Dropzone Commander Infantry done!

Yesterday I got them based, and here they are, now I have everything painted! Rather quick for me to get an army done in such a short time, no?
I will wait untill at least a game or two before ordering anything more, but I can easily see some elite infantry and those quick small flying transports.
Perhaps I can use some of my old Mechclix infantry as they seem to be the same scale? Oh well...

Here are the pictures, click to see a bigger version where you can really see my sloppy brushing!

Me, a proper wargamer?

Monday morning, tired from a weekend of epic proportions (but this is a blog about my hobby, so you don't get to know..) and I'm not working today. I plan to get some hobby things done, but for now I just take this coffe and answer a few questions from here. Why? Well, because I found them funny and it's a way to think about what I have done, and for those of you who care to get to know my wargaming side a little better!

Here we go:

* Spent at least £500 on figures / tanks - and you get extra kudos for every £500 you've spent
Guess I get a box of kudos then?

* Pricked your finger or thumb on a pike block - several times
Ahh, those prickin basterds..

* Tried at least 10 different rule sets and vowed never to play half of them ever again
Actually it's more that I don't have tried at least 10 different rule sets...

* Bought an army off EBay
In Sweden we call it Tradera! And yes!

* Sold an army on EBay
In Sweden we call it Tradera! And yes!

* spent months painting an army - then used it in anger once
And then, Tradera!

* tried several different periods and genres
More like all of them...

* dropped a box of figures on the floor from a great height
Shit happens.

* lost a battle on the last throw of the dice
Even worse, I lost a tournament!

* made at least one enemy for life
I only make plastic enemies when playing games.

* had a proper, stand up argument over a wargamers table
Like a boss.

* thrown a dice across a room
Someone needed a scatter dice?

* rebased an army for a different rule set
I have rebased stuff for many reasons, but not that one.

* inflicted a whopping defeat on an opponent
Well, when you have 30 khorne berzerkers you get a lot of blood for the buck. Eldars are weak btw.

* suffered an embarrassing defeat due to a stupid tactical decision
Wait, you can quick kill my general with that? (DBA)

* joined a wargamers club
At least 6.

* bought a ton of lead that remains unpainted
And yet it seems like I am missing something?

* been to a wargamers show
A few..

* have more dice than is logical or necessary to own - and have used most of them
Well, some diceboxes just dont seem to like me, or they get old...

* have taken boxes of troops down to a club just to show them off to your mates
You make that sound like a bad thing?

That's all folks, hope some of you enjoyed reading this, there is no refund of your time!
I crown myself a proper wargamer with or without this list. :)

Now I shall behols some 90 minutes of zombies and base them UNA infantrymen.

Dropzone infantry wip

Slow progress here, but I've managed to put some paint to these guys. Perhaps it is just me, but I actually didn't enjoy painting them so much, and therfore they did not get as much love as they could. I am in a little "too much" period now so hopefully next bunch will be better.

UCM ground vehicles and flyers

Yesterday I finished painting the UCM vehicles and flyers, the infantry is still "naked", giving me that awkward look from the paint station.. The pictures did't turn out as nice as I hoped, but I'll try to make a better job when everything is done. Let's take a look at the pictures, click to enlarge:

The whole gang.

Command vehicle and two infantry transports.

Standard tanks.

Anti aircraft tanks, but surely they will make a hole in any infantry too!

Heavy tanks.

Interceptors, the pilots are high-fiving each other on the fly-by.

Medium dropship rear, I like the blueish tint on the exhaust.

And front view. I think the red tint/glow on the aircrafts windows look quite nice!

Vikings almost done.. and wtf, plane?!

Some shields to paint, a little detailing and the basing to do, then the guys are home.
I really need to quit earlier and get better light for photographing..

Worth noting (or not?) I am now a proud owner of an airbrush!

Another thing, I really can't understand this sudden urge to build a plane, anyhow I got my hands on a 1/48 harrier, never really got into planes, and tonight I watched top gun with my fiance, something is seriously wrong here.. :)

Now, lets do something with that airbrush, I smell 10mm sci-fi!

Us infantry complete, and vikings taking shape

I think I am happy with my infantry now, the flash is eating away some details but I think the picture do them some justice. Will take a lot of better pictures when it's all done.
I also have begun to paint the vikings, lovely models that compared to the 1/35 master box models are quite quick to paint!

Vikings!

After the glue incident earlier I decided to finish the model I was working on, as fate would have it, the model was the chieftain of my small viking warband, born through disaster I shall name him Einar Bottle Bane!
I mounted them on washers, with Einar getting a bigger one to help identify him on the table and also to prevent having him falling again. :)
Thanks to Eng ( kampgruppe-engel.blogspot.com ) for the minis who I beleive are Gripping Beast.

Shit...

Proof that it's time for a timeout, caffeine and a trip to buy more glue.
I managed to save the things I glued minus a few bits, and the bottle was 2/3 empty. The most annoying thing is that this is the SECOND friggin cutting mat that I mess up...
